We have been working in Thailand with Karen refugees from Burma since January 2008. We operate out of Albuquerque, NM and in an undisclosed location along the Thailand / Burma border.
The Karen people are one of the many ethnic groups living inside Burma that are oppressed by soldiers and officials of the State Peace & Development Council (SPDC), Burma’s ruling military junta.
For decades now they have been forced out of their own country and constantly face slavery, kidnapping, destruction of their homes, villages and crops, extortion, vandalism, torture, sexual assault and executions.
